INDUSTRY PLAYERS ASSURE THE GOVERNMENT THAT NO PRICE INCREASES ARE EXPECTED FOLLOWING THE FUEL PRICE HIKE.

Following a working session with the Minister of Trade, Industry and Handicrafts, Ibrahim Kalil Konaté, on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at his office in Abidjan-Plateau, Ivorian trade stakeholders assured that no increase in product costs would be applied following the recent fluctuation in fuel prices.

Minister Konaté praised the sense of responsibility shown by traders, consumers and businesses, inviting them to continue their efforts to preserve the purchasing power of the population.

Ibrahim Kalil Konaté also noted an improvement in the supply of several markets, facilitated by better availability of products in certain production areas.

He explained that this meeting followed discussions held the previous day with consumer associations, as part of the ongoing dialogue with market players.

“We are working on mitigation measures and the state has made significant efforts to avoid increases,” he stressed, while reaffirming the government’s commitment to preserving price stability.

For his part, the Director General of the National Federation of Trade Actors of Ivory Coast (FENACCI), Karim Sanogo, mainly reassured consumers about price stability.

“Merchants have no reason to raise prices. I want to emphasize that there will be no increase, especially since our minister is currently implementing mitigation measures,” he insisted. He also noted that transport operators have announced they will maintain their fares following a meeting with their supervising minister.

According to the head of FENACCI, the government has presented the efforts made to limit the effects of this increase on commercial activities.

“The minister explained to us, at length, the efforts that the government has been making for several months. Mitigation measures are being put in place to support businesses,” he maintained.
